folded building… Rabbi Hillel used to say “be one of the disciples of Aaron, loving peace and pursuing peace.” this design references Aaron’s priestly breastplate that featured 12 stones representing the tribes of Israel. The Hebrew name for this breastplate was “hosen", meaning fold. Curviloft brought my folded sunroom fantasy to life. I used magazine cutouts to hand collage some elements in the renderings, mostly the textures of rock, trees, grasses, and water, and used generative AI for some other elements.

kabbalah cards… The 10 “sefirot” are understood in Kabbalistic thought to represent the channels through which creation occurs, from nothingness, a superconscious will, to intellect, emotions, and finally, to a vessel that receives the “divine” light, nurtures it, and births everything in existence. Although they represent a process, each sefirah offers its own attributes and meaning. I thought it would be fun to create a deck of cards including these 10 sefirot, and an additional 22 basic cards corresponding to the Hebrew letters (which have corresponding numbers and meaning derived from Kabbalistic numerology). There are so many oracle and tarot decks, and much new age belief stems from Kabbalah - so why should there not be a deck that is rooted in actual Jewish Kabbalistic thought? This deck was inspired by Professor Eliezer Segal’s conceptions of the sefirot and their associated symbols, colours, and characters; and created by me, brought to life in PhotoShop, with my drawing, editing, and the help of some generative AI elements.
